Drums and Vocals

Music has been central to my life since I can remember.  I grew up playing mainly drums, with some exposure to piano.  A few failed attempts at joining the Jazz band in college never seemed to dissuade my interest in learning in playing as many different types of music as possible.

My initial years in drumming were mainly influenced by a great teacher and mentor Jim Zupancic.  Jim has a unique ability to help students adhere to proper technique, while keeping them interested.  I am pretty sure today he still has a long waiting list for new students.

During high school I joined forces with Anthony Harding, Tony Trupp, and Mark Horne. Together we have all played a wide array of music styles. One of the primary reasons for creating this website is to simply capture a glimpse of the music we have created over the past 20 years.

While in College I learned a lot from Dan McMillan who opened my eyes to West African drumming, congos, and other percussion instruments.  Dan was a great teacher and reminded me how crucial being humble is to the music learning process. I have been humbled my many percussionists over the years and too many to list here.

I moved to Mexico for a few years and was able to study a bit of the music played in Capoiera. One of my most fond side projects consists of a great friend and musician/capoierista Yadrem Flores and his wife Ghislene Alami Flores.
